United Way announces 2008 Campaign Kick-off Event
FORT ATKINSON, WI – August 18, 2008 – The
United Way of Jefferson & North Walworth Counties announces
that the organization will be kicking off its annual community
campaign with a Corporate Punt, Pass & Kick competition on
Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 4:00 p.m., at Perkins Stadium on the
campus of the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.
Corporate coed teams of three will be competing against one another
in amassing total yardage by punting, passing and kicking a collegiate
size football on the new FieldTurf, artificial turf, playing surface
in updated Perkins Stadium. Shane Sparks, of 940 WFAW/ KOOL 106.5/
LITE 107.3, will serve as the on-field emcee of the competition
that will be broadcast throughout the stadium and on the Perkins
Stadium scoreboard. At the conclusion of the event, the top three
teams in total yardage will be awarded first, second and third
place team trophies, along with each member of the winning team
collecting an individual trophy. There will also be an award for
the team with the most spirit. Food will be available for all participants
and their respective fans.
In addition to the friendly competition, there will be an appearance
by members of the Warhawk Marching Band, “Wisconsin’s
Finest,” who are directed by Dr. Glenn C. Hayes as well as
Lance Leipold, Warhawk football coach and Pat Miller, Warhawk men’s
basketball coach.
“Our United Way is really excited about this event, we’re
going to have a great time and we look forward to involving employers
from throughout our community. Corporate teams, made up of individuals
employed by the same employer, are encouraged to register by September
12th,” said Dan McCrea, United Way’s executive director.

fee. This event is generously co-sponsored by Fort HealthCare and
Jones Dairy Farm.
